News How Gift Aid impacts our work 21 November 2022 | Nikola Gordon Share this post Making a greater impact doesn’t have to cost you more! If you’re a UK taxpayer you can sign up to Gift Aid your donations where we will receive 25p extra from the government for every £1 that you give to us. So your £10 donation becomes £12.50! Can you imagine what 25p extra per £1 given can do in the life of someone living in poverty. Gift Aid is a game changer worth over £1 billion to UK charities. It enables us to keep going and keep being there for those who need us the most. With Gift Aid, we have been able to: Help those in crisis or who have been affected by natural disasters In 2020, Gift Aid donations helped us send relief to those impacted by the Taal volcanic eruption, and later in the year the fires that destroyed homes in Tondo, Manilla. We also provided repeated food aid to those who had lost their income during the pandemic restrictions. In 2021, we were able to send relief and food supplies to those affected by severe flooding in Tondo, Manilla. It’s our hope in 2022, that we would be able to continue to provide food aid to those who are still not able to provide for themselves due to the ongoing Covid restrictions. Gift Aid will help us to do this. Provide education to the poorest children Gift Aid enables us to provide education to children in our programme by helping cover costs of educational tablets to children as they begin their Sponsorship. This includes an educational tablet, desk and a chair for them to study comfortably at home. For a child in poverty, education is everything, it is HOPE for their future. We want to make sure we can provide what a child needs to thrive. Pay our overseas workers a salary. It takes hardworking, dedicated team to run our Sponsorship projects. And even though our Child Sponsorship scheme also includes paying a worker overseas, we always need additional finances for overing all of these costs and providing gifts, blessings and extra support – and that’s where Gift Aid comes in. We are very blessed to have incredible Partners and teams who work day in and out to care for every child and their family in our programmes. Keep us going to deliver HOPE for years to come. As we don’t take money for our admin costs or overheads from any Sponsorship donation, we fully rely on people adding Gift Aid to help keep us going financially. The income we receive from Gift Aid is vital and means we can carry on operating as a charity in supporting vulnerable children and their families. Please note! to be eligible, you need: To be a UK Taxpayer. To pay an amount of income/capital gains tax that is at least equal to the amount submitted by the charities you support.
