Your focus is such a powerful tool. It magnifies whatever you set your attention on. It can benefit us in so many ways, but it can also be our downfall.
Â
If you focus on the wrong thing, it can steer you off-track and take you to a place you don’t want to go. If you run into a problem in any aspect of your life and that is all you choose to focus on, it will actually stop you from being able to see a solution. Our focus zeros in on whatever we have put in front of us, blocking out any other influence. Eventually, what you focus on is what you will become.
Â
Our focus is also crucial in the way we continue to deal with the bad news we hear around us. If all we are doing is watching news and listening to the fear and opinions of everyone else, over time we will find ourselves having the same reactions and not being able to see past all the negativity. But creating space to focus on the positives in your life, even the little things every day will make such a difference in how you cope, and for your overall wellbeing.
Â
When you are more positive, you are naturally more motivated to do things that will not only benefit you but also others around you. Having an attitude of gratefulness is attributed by so many health experts to contributing to your overall wellbeing – mentally and physically. There is just something built into us that creates a positive impact when we are thankful. You can tell what a person is focused on when they have a grateful attitude.
Â
You also have the power to choose where you put your focus. This brings so much freedom, because it gives you the choice over which direction your life is headed in. You can choose to focus on things that will impact you in a positive way and point you in the right direction, rather than negative things that could distract you and bring you down.
Â
As a charity, we have to constantly keep our focus on things that will drive us forward, even in difficult times and in the midst of challenges. Looking at how our work in the Philippines continues to change the life of yet one more child, motivates us in all we do. It gives us a reason to be thankful every day, despite the continual obstacles we face.
Â
We really hope this will be an encouragement for you to find and focus on the good in your everyday, and we pray and believe that this positivity and thankfulness will carry you forward in whatever you do.
