Are you waiting on God?

In this life, we will go through seasons of waiting. It’s during these seasons that God is preparing us and transitioning us into something new. But sometimes these seasons can be the hardest, especially when we can’t see what’s ahead.

You might be in this season right now. Maybe you feel that there’s a change coming but you don’t know what. Maybe you’ve been praying and waiting for some desires that you’ve had on your heart, or maybe you just don’t have a clue what’s happening at all in your life. 

In these seasons of waiting, we have a lot of questions that sometimes seem unanswered, and if we don’t guard our hearts, others will try to answer them for us.

If we don’t understand what ‘waiting on God’ really means, it’s easy to feel discouraged and even disheartened, and the enemy is right there to take advantage. He wants to steal your faith in who God is and make you doubt His love and goodness toward you.

So what does the Bible tell us about ‘waiting’ on God?

Psalm 27:14 (AMP)

Wait for and confidently expect the LORD;

Be strong and let your heart take courage;

Yes, wait for and confidently expect the LORD. 

Isaiah 40:31 (AMP)

But those who wait for the LORD [who expect, look for, and hope in Him]

Will gain new strength and renew their power;

They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun];

They will run and not become weary,

They will walk and not grow tired.

Waiting is not passive. These verses are talking about an activity of drawing close to God, resulting in an expectation and confidence in Him – an attitude of faith. It produces greater intimacy with God as you draw close to Him, being expectant for whatever He has for you, just like a child is with their parent.

When you’re expectant, you’re excited about something and you’re on the lookout for it. You might not know exactly what it is, but you know your Father, and you know that He only has the best for you.

And His best is always worth waiting for.
