News He is your peace 29 March 2023 | Nikola Gordon Share this post Did you know that ‘Shalom’ is the Hebrew word for ‘peace’? ‘Shalom’ means ‘completeness’, ‘safety and soundness in the body’, ‘welfare’, ‘health’, and ‘prosperity’. It is also used to describe a covenant of peace between God and His people. This is what you and I have – a promise of peace from God. Isaiah 26:3 says: You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! (NLT) God promises to keep us in perfect peace. The word translated for ‘keep’ in this verse, means ‘to guard’, ‘to watch over’. In other words, God always watches over you to give you peace. He guards you with peace. Isn’t that amazing?! But the other part of this verse says we need to keep our thoughts (our focus and our hearts) fixed on Him. That’s easier said than done when daily life is busy and challenging. In the struggle and fight of very real circumstances, it can feel that peace is a million miles away. But this peace that God promises us is not a feeling or emotion. Ephesians 2:14 and Isaiah 9:6 point to Jesus as the person of peace – the Prince of Peace. See peace is not the absence of life’s issues and problems. Rather, peace is a revelation of the person of Jesus Christ. It’s the revelation of Who it is that calms the stormy waters surrounding you. Jesus is the only One who brings safety and soundness, welfare, health, prosperity, and completeness. He is God’s promise of peace to you. P.S. Do you feel you are lacking peace in your life?
