Meet Rhodora Rhodora is the mother of one of the children supported through The Purim Trust’s Sponsorship Programme. After years of financial uncertainty, she was given the opportunity to take part in our Dressmaking Training Programme. Through the training, Rhodora gained practical dressmaking skills and the confidence to begin looking towards a different future for her family. With her own sewing machine, she hopes to establish a home-based sewing livelihood, allowing her to earn an income while continuing to care for her family and support her children. For Rhodora, a sewing machine represents far more than a piece of equipment. It is an opportunity to put her new skills into practice, become more self-sufficient and build a more secure future for her family. “This opportunity has lifted a heavy burden from my heart and given me renewed courage to face the future.” Want to go one step further? The sewing machines are provided to mothers of children within our Sponsorship Programme who have completed our Dressmaking Training Programme. Our aim is to help equip them with practical skills and the tools they need to work towards greater self-sufficiency. Can I fund more than one sewing machine? Yes. You can fund one machine for £187, two for £374, five for £935, or give any amount towards the appeal. Every contribution helps us equip more women to put their training into practice. Why do the women need a sewing machine after their training? Training gives the women the skills, but they also need the right equipment to put those skills into practice. Providing a sewing machine and station can help them begin employment or start their own small business, earn an income and provide for their families, taking another step towards self-sufficiency. Will I receive updates about the impact of my donation? Yes. We share updates on the progress and impact of our work so you can see how your support is helping women and their families move towards greater self-sufficiency. What happens if you raise more than is needed? We are raising funds to provide sewing machines and sewing stations for women completing our Dressmaking Training Programme. If there is a surplus of funds for this purpose, we will use the money to further support the charitable work of The Purim Trust where it is needed most. Administrative handling costs included.
