You are a carrier of hope

After a very challenging 2020, the world is ready to move into a more promising 2021. But with still so much uncertainty and changes to navigate, how can we hold onto our hope for this new year?

The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 3:15, to be ready to give an answer for the hope that is within us. Whether you know it or not, you are a carrier of hope. The situation this world is facing may seem overwhelming, and you might not know where to even start. But the most important thing to know is that you bear something powerful that this world needs – hope. This is not the same as what the world calls hope. The hope we carry comes from a place of knowing God, His goodness, and what He says about us and our future. The Bible says that even if everything on earth were to pass away, His word will remain. So how much more do we know that His word will stand, even in these immense difficulties and challenges we are all facing; even in challenges that you may be facing personally.  

Knowing and trusting what God says produces this hope within us that is an anchor for our soul- Hebrews 6:19. It remains steadfast and is not easily shaken. We have the opportunity to be a beacon of this hope to those around us who may be struggling with fear, anxiety, depression, and loss. Maybe you yourself, or even someone you know has lost something in all that has happened this last year. Whatever you think you may have lost; God can restore to you with so much more. He can turn any situation around for our good. This is His promise to us, this is our hope.  

This is also something we continually share with all the children we care for in our sponsorship program, the importance of not losing hope. Without hope you are incapacitated; you are not able to see anything ahead of you to do anything or go anywhere. Hope is the very starting point needed for these children to be able to see themselves living a life without poverty. If they can really see that and hold onto it, that hope will mobilize them and carry them through any challenges they may face.
